What Snowpound stores in your browser, the anonymous calculator statistics we collect, what Google Analytics and Google’s advertising services receive, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
Snowpound (snowpound.com) is run by Nordic Coders, which is responsible for the processing of personal data described here. You can reach us at mail@snowpound.com.
This policy covers the website. You do not need an account to use it, and it has no forms: we never ask for your name, email address or financial details. If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply.
Stored in your browser
The site keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage so they survive a reload. They stay on your device. What the calculator does send us is described under anonymous calculator statistics below.

You can remove all of them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. To deliver a page, the server necessarily receives your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the type of browser you use. These details may be written to technical logs that are used only to keep the service running and secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure website.
Anonymous calculator statistics
To learn how the calculator is used in different countries, the site sends the values you calculate with to our own server. This happens once you have stopped changing them for a few seconds, and when you save a calculation. Each report contains only:
- the starting amount, the contribution, the interest rate and the number of years;
- how often interest is compounded, and whether contributions are monthly or yearly;
- the language of the page and the currency it shows.
Nothing that identifies you is included: not the name you give a saved calculation, no cookie or other identifier, and no IP address is stored with the values. Each report is kept with its date only, not the time of day. Nothing is sent until you change a value yourself, so just viewing the page reports nothing.
Because the statistics cannot be linked to you, we also cannot find or delete a particular person's entries. They are stored on our servers at Hetzner in Germany and are not shared with Google or anyone else. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the calculator is used, so we can improve it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to count visits and see which pages are used. It records things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. It does not receive anything you type into the calculator.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are set only if you allow them. Until you do, Google receives only limited signals without cookies or identifiers. The legal basis there is your consent. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default.
If allowed, Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_E886N943NN, which expire after up to two years. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, at most 14 months.
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Advertising
Pages may show advertising from Google AdSense. Google and its partners can use cookies and similar identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them, and — where you allow it — personalise them.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's own consent message asks for your choice before this happens, and stores that choice in cookies of its own. Google explains how it uses data from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Transfers outside the EU
Google may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Google relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have incorrect data corrected, or data deleted;
- restrict or object to how your data is processed;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before;
- complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live or work, or where you believe the problem occurred.
Most of what the site stores never reaches us, so the quickest way to remove it is to clear the site's data in your browser. For anything else, write to mail@snowpound.com — see also the contact page.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does with data changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
